With an eye for detail and the ability to execute tasks as fast as the Flash, he climbed his way up from being an intern to becoming Chief Feeling Developer at Feelingstream. Introducing Vladislav Šikirjavõi – a man of few words who shared a bit more about himself!
A myth about developers?
Very good programmers are the fastest at writing a code.
If you were to explain your role at Feelingstream to your grandmother, how would you do it?
Luckily I wouldn’t need to explain it to her since I have already done it several times 😀
Tell us a bit about your background.
I’m originally from Haapsalu where I attended high school. Aside from school I was active in sports, namely in football and athletics. From there on I continued my studies at TTÜ (Tallinn University of Technology) in the Informatics Bachelor’s program and eventually decided to obtain a Master’s in the same field.
You came across Feelingstream while writing your Master’s thesis. How did it happen?
The focus of my thesis was on topic models and since it isn’t really taught at TTÜ, I was looking for other options. During one seminar I heard about Feelingstream, so I contacted them and offered myself as an intern. Upon completing my internship they offered employment and began assigning me to more complicated assignments, which of course is really satisfying, because then I can truly contribute to the company’s progress.
So your journey at Feelingstream began as an intern…
It was a great experience and I would say that with each day it became better and better. I feel like I’m a part of the team and my own skills improve. It isn’t an easy job, I won’t lie, because the workload is big and each day is full of challenges one is required to face. Once an idea comes up I prefer to create the initial prototype by the end of the day.
Perhaps you have a fun story to tell from your time at Feelingstream.
Lauri (edit: Chief Feeling Architect) has a tendency to start each conversation with “Back when I was an athlete…”. I find it rather interesting how he is capable of starting a conversation on whichever topic with this specific sentence.
Hit us with a fun fact about yourself!
My favourite TV-show is “Vikings”.
Terje, Chief Feeling Officer, about Vladislav:
“Vladislav was the first intern at Feelingstream – prior to him we didn’t have any experience with trainees working for us. Yet this turned out to be a really positive experience and it opened us to accepting new interns in the future. With Vladislav the company grew both literally and figuratively and we are happy to have him on our team!”
